[cisco-voip] NTP Sync in CUCM 7.x under VMware

I've resolved my issues by tuning my VMWare instances under Linux. To date
I've had no issues.
The big things to make sure you set are your CPU speed (as in turn CPU
throttling off), and set the true CPU speed in the .cnf (.cfg?) file.
Reboot your Linux host system and all should be well (I've even run Unity
Connection under Linux and it works quite well).

There is a known issue with VMware Linux guests trying to use NTP. The time
goes wild and is unreliable. The best way to make NTP work is to let all
time sync go through the host as Wes has already pointed out.

I have 7.0.1 running in vmware. My pub points to my external 2811 which
points to time.windows.com and it works fine. Are you just running vmware
with no external gateway for ntp source.

I'm having the same problem in 7.0(2a), and like Matthew, didn't have issues
using 6.1(2) in VMWare. I disabled NTP, but now my 7941 will not keep in
sync with CallManager; IP Communicator works fine.

I have an ISR configured as an NTP master on the same subnet as my VMWare
host and guests. NTP appears to be working fine.

VMWare recommends not using NTP on guests. Synch the host and let the
guests follow the host.
