[cisco-voip] pvdms and 3800s

I'm looking at getting a couple of 3800s for cisco unity express only, as far as I know, I do not need PVDMs for this, only for PSTN connections and conferencing, transcoding, etc. I'd rather buy this stuff later when there is more money available and to keep the initial cost down. 

Am I on the right track?
