When you create the machines in workstation, you can choose to pre-allocate
the entire disk space or not.
So you can set your disk size at 72GB, but it will grow / shrink
dynamically.
Having said that.. I believe there is a slight performance gain if you
pre-allocate the whole lot.
If you are running on a server, you could actually use a full physical disk
for each VM, which again, is supposed to help with performance.
I think ESX has some strict hardware requirements also that you will need to
check for the host.
