You could use Exchange 5.5 and it would not care. Back when they KNEW how to
make an e-mail server. :)

Were you able to get specifics on what was breaking it?  I'm curious  
how your back-end Exchange would have any impact on a desktop app that  
interfaces with the CUCM server and apps local to the PC.

phone system from CCM 4.1 to CUCM 7.  There was a MSFT "fix", but it
broke as many things on the desktop as it fixed.

Supposedly, there is no problem at all with Exchange 2007, but folks
would be well-advised to check it out before abandoning the Cisco TSP.
Our desktop pros found a way to make the TSP work for CUCM 7 after a
week or so, but it was not an easy process after initially believing
that Click to Call would work on our system without issue.  We have
about 1000 internal customers (users).

With CCM 4.2 the only Outlook dialing you get is via the Cisco TSP.
It's
not TAC supported and I don't think the doc is on cisco.com any longer
but
Google should turn up some info for you.  The Click to Call "widget" you
can
download from cisco.com only works with CUCM 5.1 and later.
