[cisco-voip] two questions about Cisco/Microsoft "communications clients"

Lelio,
Are you talking about CUP or OCS here?
I know OCS requires at least one server (if not more, can be clustered). CUP runs on one server (can be clustered).
I know for sure OCS can go outside the company easily, not sure about CUP, I would assume it is capable I just don’t know how.

Just trying to get my head around two questions, with Cisco or Microsoft's PC based clients:
1. do you need a separate server?
2. can you communicate with individuals outside of your organization, say other MSN clients?
