Saw interesting demo where all endpoints can help reduce energy usage during peak times and rates. For example during a heat wave in California there is a demand peak, smart endpoint laptops would switch to running off battery where possible, phones lcd displays would idle, access points would reduce power usage, servers would reduce CPUs/fans, buildings warm up 3 degrees, etc until the demand event is over....In a campus I could see the savings add up...
Co-lo data centers give away the bandwidth but are starting to charge by the kilowatt for power..bandwidth is free but electricity costs you!

Hi,
Which phones will automatically shut down when not in use? I know the 7970 will do this, but are there other ones that will?
Thanks.
Rob

Subject: [cisco-voip] Replacement for 7960 phones
Hi,
I am debating between the 7961 and 7962 as replacement for the 7960 model. The 7962 supports high fidelity but is more expensive of course.
What are others on the List using for Management phone and are people moving towards high fidelity for the future? I don't want to get calls from users because they have better sound quality on some calls but not others.
Thanks,
Daniel.
