Well it looks like you’re going to make me eat my words. I had opened a tac case regarding the 7936 in June and it took about a month for them to provide me this link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp1627480 which at the time only listed up to CUCM 6.0 (not 6.1) I see now that that has changed (still not able to get the phone to work but it may be due to CSCsg95361). At the very least just know that some of the older phones will not be supported on the newest patch everytime.

Can you clarify this point? The 7936 has a default load listed for v7.0(1) so it should be supported.

Not exactly true. Most phones continue to enjoy support from later versions of CUCM but some are abandoned. Found this out the hard way with some 7936’s

CCM 6.X supports everything down to the very first Phones. What will happen is that as the older phones stop getting Firmware revisions, they stay with the latest code for that unit. Obviously some newer features may not work on those phones but they will work flawlessly. I just upgraded a Site that has about a hundred 7910s and is running 6.1.3 without issues.

We have 4.1 CCM and Unity. Lot of 7912s, 7940s, 7960s.

If we upgrade to CCM 6, are all those phones still supported and will continue to work in CCM6?
I'm a little confused from Cisco's documentation!
