Ah, no worries, I should have been more direct in answering your question :)

It won't work, internet subscribers must be represented by contact
object. No user object, in any form, will work. You've either got to
give these users real mailboxes and make them regular unity
subscribers, or create a separate contact object to be used as an
internet subscriber.
