[cisco-voip] headset coming out handset also?

On the 7960 and 61 phones this happens because the handset and headset
speaker are hardwired together. Completely by hardware design.

On the 7965 and newer phones someone mentioned to me long ago that the
wiring changed, and that it's now by software design to be consistent with
older model phones. I don't know if this is true or not - just something I
remember hearing.

Try upgrading the 7965 firmware to the latest version and see what happens.
