[cisco-voip] Monitor registration up/down status of key ATAs and phones?

Anyone know how to monitor the up/down registration/non-registration
status of a given ATA or phone?
 
It's on UCM 6.01
 
Preferably, I'd like to get email notification when this happens.
 
 
Is it viable to push UCM syslog to someplace else for alerting (such as
with Splunk?)
