Try to use sftp to upload the patch. My colleague just faced this problem
recently and I'm sure the error message is very misleading.

Open RTMT. Click on Alerts Central. Right click on
LogPartitionLowWaterMarkExceeded and click Set/Alert Properties. Click next
and then move the slider to 50%. Click next a couple of more times and save.
Next go to LogPartitionHighWaterMarkExceeded and move the value to around
75%, next a couple of times and then save.

SSH into your callmanager and issue show status. You should notice the disk
space on the common partition start to free up.

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, I don't look after the VMware environment. The VMware server
where I installed CMCU6.0 was allocated with 80GB of hard drive space.

I am attempting to upgrade to version 6.1(2) rather than 6.1(4) as the
installation file is smaller.

Is there anyway I can free up space on the common partition? Or I am better
off starting over again with a new VMware server with larger HD drive.

When you built your vm.. what size hard drives did you create it with? What
size does your production box have?

Subject: [cisco-voip] Test Publisher - Common Partition problem

Dear all,

I have installed CUCM (6.0.1.1000-37) within our VMWare environment. I am
only running a publisher with a couple of phones registered for testing
purposes only. An inter-cluster trunk has been configured to our live call
manager cluster for dialling.

I am in the process of trying to upgrade my test publisher from the above
version to: 6.1.4.2000-2.

I have successfully uploaded the iso file, but at the point of attempting to
progress with the installation I get the following message:

"There is not enough disk space in the common partition to perform the
upgrade. Please use either the Platform Command Line Interface or Real-Time
Monitoring Tool (RTMT) to free space on the common partition.

Please let me know how I can go about freeing up space on the common
partition which is currently as follows:

Partition: Percentage Used Total Space(MB)
Used Space(MB)

Common 49 34510
16576

Please note the VMWare server was originally configured with 80GB of space.
I have attempted to upgrade the version of a previous occasion which was
halted half way through because the media was damaged.

Any help would be appreciated as it will save me having to re-install the
publisher again.

Thanks.

Jamie
