I have new out of book 7945s 8.5(3) SCCP that will flip to SIP and back to SCCP based upon how the phone is configured in CallManager 7.1(3). I can go back/forth all day with no issues between SIP/SCCP. Really cool.

You need to be on sccp 8.0(6) firmware or later before you can upgrade to 8.1(2) on the 7940/60 phones. This is very similar to the issues upgrading to 8.5(2) and later on the third-gen phones.

I don't know what SIP firmware (if any) would allow an upgrade to 8.1(2).

When trying to convert one back, I couldn't get it to load SCCP firmware from the Call manager(6.1.4) so I loaded SCCP v5 Firmware from a standalone TFTP server, but now when I try to register to the call manager, it registers and gets a DN, but the phone persistently reboots with error"File Auth Fail File:P00308010200.sbn, File not found" . I looked in the CUCM TFTP directory and that particular file is there. Documentation has not helped. Am I missing something, or did i just make a Doorstop out of this phone?
