I have witnessed a g729 voicemail delivered to an iphone actually crash and reboot the iphone upon playing the file in the email....
 
 We did it several times cucmbe 7.1.3

I’m assuming your using G.711 today.
 
Switch to G.729 also means the client needs the codec installed.  Since G.729 isn’t royalty free you may have difficulty playing back on phones or other devices that don’t have Viewmail for Outlook installed, etc.

I have been tasked with making the voicemail WAV files smaller. Does anyone have any recommendations on which format to use? I do not want to change it and cause issues for the clients.
