[cisco-voip] Need advice to unlock doors

If this is in an intercom type situation (where someone pushes a button near a door), CyberData makes at least one (if not multiple) products that are designed to do it:

I haven’t tested the door strike aspect of it myself, but I know it is designed for it. They connect just fine using SIP to a Cisco phone system.

From what I recall, it is the device doing the calling that intercepts the DTMF and sends the relay to the lockplate. So for example, in an apartment building, the apartment owners don't all have special phones, but the device at the door that calls them is expecting a * or # or something.

Hi,

I’ve been asked to integrate our CM 7.1(3) with an iStar Pro system which controls electric strikes on doors. They want to be able to unlock doors from an IP Phone. Let’s say a visitor’s at the front door for me, so he lifts the IP Phone right by the door and dials my number. Then, I input a code or a softkey or anything that will trigger a relay, which will unlock the door.

I absolutely don’t know how to do this. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Regards.

Sandy.
