[cisco-voip] message waiting indication

Im on ver 7.1 CCUM and having problems getting the message indication to work on my 7945 viop phone. i can press the mail button and get to my voicemail system, but the message waiting indication is not working. I've checked everything that i can think of, any sugggestions?
