[cisco-voip] Automated message for backup completion

I agree, we are only alerting on failure.

You can also look at your sftp server's logs or use a script to pull the name and size of files written after each backup, alarm if any expected files are missing or if any are 0 kb.

I was using this at a previous job to alert on failures - as I recall there actually isn't a syslog message for backup completion. Without an error of some sort there's just the assumption that the backup completed succesfully.

Not sure what you mean by enterprise level setting. The alarm config is limited to a specific server and service, and even can be set differently for local and remote syslogs.

That said, I haven't had any luck getting a backup completed event sent to the syslog so I think that path is out.

The other option is the Monitor User Event option under Trace & Log Central->Real Time Trace. This lets you monitor trace files for a specific line, and then can alert on it. It's very cool stuff but not widely used (that I'm aware of).

I'd start by grabbing your DRF traces, look for the line you want, and then see if you can get it to alarm.

I'm thinking you can maybe set up the syslog alarm for DRS to the highest level and maybe that will get a successful message logged to the syslog, playing with it in the lab now.

As far as I can tell, it only sends out messages when it fails.

I run some scripts that check things out and compare sizes, etc. and tell me if things are ok.

Afternoon,

Is there a way in CUCM 6.1.4 to send an email when the system backup completes?
