Unless there is something pushing you to 7.1.5 (like UCL), I would consider using 7.1(3b)SU2. If you go with 7.1.5 train, there is no upgrade path to 8.0 and you will need to wait for 8.5.

So from a Best choice perspective. Going from CM 4.2 to 7.1. Which one should we upgrade to?

7.1.5su1a or 7.1.5b?

Thanks

The SUs are built off of an ES while the main builds are not. Technically any SU is a later build than 7.1(5b), except for 7.1(5bSU1) if it ever comes.

You should look at why 7.1(5b) was built and determine if you need it. Most of the time the respins (a, b, etc) are for bugs that affect upgrades or new installs only. Otherwise there will be an ES that incorporates the fix that you would have to upgrade to from the SU.

The CUCM Upgrade Tool should have a note about this, but it hasn't been updated for the latest releases yet.

OK so I'm a little confused.

In the lab we have 7.1.5su1a. we are down to a few weeks before our upgrade (from 4.2 Still going to bet you Lelio) and are trying to upgrade to the most current CM version when the time comes. So yesterday they release 7.1.5b. we download it and try to install and get:

upgrade candidates found in the patch directory are not allowed by the current version.

So I look at the matrix:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp201999

and it's not showing any of the SU as a direct upgrade.

So can someone help me understand what the deal is?

if this is the case moving forward what versions should we stay with? or stay away from? I want to make sure that we stay on good trains as we put this into production.

Thanks

Scott
