[cisco-voip] CallManager v8 data sheet out

We use vmware exclusively in the TAC for recreates, etc. Seeing as it's been allowed by the install since 5.0(4) (even the later MCSOS 2003 will install in vmware, just have to activate the OS) this has been coming for a while.
That said it's a world of difference between saying something will work in the lab and running an enterprise phone system in production on it. While it's an inconvenience if your email goes down for a few minutes because of some issue where the Exchange server got moved to a new vm host can you imagine if the same happened to your phone system?
This is the beginning of the process. It's going to be slow and deliberate and as someone who is going to be supporting this I couldn't be happier.
Aside from vmware there are all kinds of cool features in 8.0. SAF, CCEM, even the bulk certificate stuff is really cool.

I've had 8 running on my HP based ESX systems for quite some time now. Only
had one reboot of it to change an IP address.
That being said I'm only running about 80 devices on it so there's not a lot
of stress. it isn't like the 5000 devices some of you run ;-)

I'm not surprised by this and I think we all saw this coming. Cisco's
not going to let you build a white box vmware server for 1/3th the
price of their UCS solution and let you use that for production.
What I imagine will happen is eventually Cisco will let you run it on
boxes with approved specs with an additional 'whitebox vmware'
license.
