Hi Sechaba,

I recall a while back seeing this bug. This might be what you're seeing: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtf08864

If that doesn't work go to the bug toolkit and look up: CSCtf08864

What version of IOS are you running?

Thanks,

Tim

Subject: [cisco-voip] ISDN Layer 2 Problems

Hi,

I'm dropping calls on ISDN BRI lines. I'm running a 2911 router with VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE cards and I'm dropping calls intermittenlty. I have captured the following debug output while running debug isdn q921:
*Sep 21 09:19:13.851: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User RX <- IDCKRQ ri=0 ai=127
*Sep 21 09:19:13.851: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User TX -> IDCKRP ri=26021 ai=102
*Sep 21 09:19:13.859: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User RX <- RRf sapi=0 tei=102 nr=16
*Sep 21 09:19:14.851: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User RX <- IDCKRQ ri=0 ai=127
*Sep 21 09:19:14.851: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User TX -> IDCKRP ri=49142 ai=102
*Sep 21 09:19:15.879: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User RX <- IDREM ri=0 ai=102
*Sep 21 09:19:15.879: %ISDN-6-LAYER2DOWN: Layer 2 for Interface BRI0/3/1, TEI 102 changed to down
*Sep 21 09:19:15.879: %ISDN-6-DISCONNECT: Interface BRI0/3/1:1 disconnected from unknown , call lasted 111 seconds
*Sep 21 09:19:16.879: ISDN BR0/3/1 Q921: User RX <- IDREM ri=0 ai=102

When Layer 2 drops, my calls drop. I'm pretty sure that this problems lies with the Telco, but they tell me that their lines test fine. I have sent the debug output to a specialist within the Telco and I'm awaiting feedback. My BRI config on the router is as follows:

interface BRI0/2/0
 no ip address
 isdn switch-type basic-net3
 isdn overlap-receiving
 isdn tei-negotiation preserve
 isdn point-to-point-setup
 isdn incoming-voice voice
 isdn send-alerting
 isdn sending-complete
!
voice-port 0/2/0
 compand-type a-law
 cptone ZA
 bearer-cap Speech
!
dial-peer voice 1 voip
 description Incoming Calls
 destination-pattern 83..
 progress_ind setup enable 3
 session target ipv4:10.42.2.240
 incoming called-number .T
 dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric
 ip qos dscp cs3 signaling
 no vad
!
dial-peer voice 2 pots
 tone ringback alert-no-PI
 description PSTN Calls
 destination-pattern 0T
 incoming called-number .T
 direct-inward-dial
 port 0/2/0
 forward-digits all

Am I right in saying that this is Telco related. Please note that I have also upgraded the IOS just to rule it out.

Kind regards,

Sechaba Mokoena
