[cisco-voip] changing an 8.x security password?

Ok..  This is getting more and more fun..
I upgraded and it caused some crazy errors.. “non-defined IMS exception.” when you attempt to login.
So I did a backup and tried to restore to a new build, security password fails.
Reset and did a new backup, still fails.
Is there a way if the original security password is NOT known to do a restore?
