[cisco-voip] Switch port configs

Very wrong. The initial 3500XLs (back in 2002?) had you setup a trunk port, this has been depreciated.

Voice vlan is not supported on Trunk ports, only access ports. Check the Configuration Guide for Voice Vlans for the model switch your using.

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960/software/release/12.2_40_se/configuration/guide/swvoip.pdf

You don't want every port a Trunk port. The phones will tag on the voice vlan without setting up a trunk port.

is there anything wrong with having your switch ports configured as follows?

 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
 switchport trunk native vlan 14
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport voice vlan 146

Normally I would have them set like:

switchport access vlan 14
switchport voice vlan 146

These are 3560's running 12.2 code.

TIA

Scott
