[cisco-voip] 3.5 mm audio jacks on 797x series phones

Does anyone have experience using the 3.5 mm audio jacks on 797x series
phones?
I've connected external powered speakers, but I cannot get audio to be
output through them.  I found mention, in archives of this list, of this
feature possibly being discontinued, but was hoping someone could
confirm if I am out of luck.

Running CUCM 7.1.3. here
