[cisco-voip] UCCx wrong MAC address?

UCCX 8.x is currently the only UC product that uses a License MAC regardless of platform (VMware or Physical Server).

I recommend using the Answer File Generator on cisco's website to deploy the server. During the process, it will tell you what the license mac will be. You can then use the license mac to order licenses via your PAK / TAC Case for re-hosting.

You can then use the XML file generated by the tool to automate the installation steps. It's very simple.

It's worth noting that the answer file generator only seems to function properly when accessed via Firefox.

If you have already deployed the server, get the license mac from the CLI using the "show status" command.

The license MAC is generated using NTP and a couple of other parameters, just like the UC on UCS stuff. So, if ever you change your NTP, your license MAC will likely change as well, requiring you to rehost your license.

is it possible with UCCx 8.0 that the server would use the USB mac address rather then the ethernet Mac Address? if so how do you change that? The IBM MCS 7835i says E41F132EB448 but the show status shows : License MAC : 986f420f3cf4

Thanks

Scott
