What are the SIP problems he has?

A little late on this, don't do 8.5 wait for 8.6 which has some fixes that
8.5 has. It should be out. If you don't have sip trunks tied to your call
manager you should be fine with 8.5. A colleague of mine has had ALLOT of
problems with 8.5, we have had a few.

You don't need the 160GB hard drives if they are the MCS7845-H2 servers.
146GB drives are recommended for 8.5 and required for 8.6(1) and above.

 4 GB for -H2, -I2 and older.

6 GB for -I3 and HP DL380G6
 72 GB for -H2, -I2 and older. For version 8.0(3) through 8.5, 146 GB
strongly recommended, required for 8.6(1)+

Couple of things:

1. You must have 4GB RAM and 160GB hard drives to do this.
2. 7.1(5) will only upgrade to 8.5, not 8.0.
3. You must have the 8.x UCM license to upgrade.

Guys,

I've been asked to upgrade our 7.1.5 cluster to v8. I've checked the upgrade
tool and it's recommending 8.5 as the version to upgrade to.

We're currently running on MCS7845 HP servers. Are there any issues with
upgrading on this HW? Do we need to be looking towards UCS for 8.5 support?

If there are any other gotchas that I should be aware of such as around
licensing please let me know.

Has anyone got any experience of upgrading from 7.1.5 to 8.5 that they would
like to share?
