[cisco-voip] viewmail plugin replacement

Just from memory:
* No ability to compose a new voice message from Outlook (I used this a lot to quickly record CCX prompts with the correct encoding)
* No ability to forward a voice message
* Only supports playback of non-secure messages
* No playback re-direct to phone (allegedly fixed in forthcoming 8.5(5))
* Others that aren't occurring to me at the moment.
Basically right now I have a media master toolbar to control playback, volume, and speed without launching an external program, but that's about it. The media master toolbar does look nicer and more modern and can be used in the reading pane of Outlook.

Can you list some of the features that you lose with ViewMail for Outlook versus Unity VMO.

I have Cisco ViewMail for Outlook 8.5(4) working with Outlook 2010 and Unity 7. I've been told Cisco ViewMail for Outlook 8.5(5) will re-introduce VM playback to a phone. However it was made clear to me that Cisco ViewMail for Outlook will not have feature parity with Unity VMO and I got the impression that Unity VMO will not be further developed. The feature disparity is vast and disappointing if you used all Unity VMO has/had to offer.

Do you still have Unity and using Exchange in meantime until you get ViewMail working?
What version of Unity and ViewMail are you trying to use? Have been working with VMO the past week for a client, ViewMail 8.0(3) will work with Unity 5.x, 7.x, 8.x and Outlook 2003/2007. There is a 8.0(4) version that fixes an issue with playback over the phone and PC speaker if you have that issue, but you'll need to get that from TAC.

There is also a new 8.5(4) version that adds Outlook 2010 support, but I haven't been able to get it to work with Unity 7.x or 8.x yet as the documentation states it should. Only option is Connection 8.5. I'm working with Cisco on this now to see whats up with the 8.5.4 version
- if it is documentation issue or something else.
But getting back to using Exchange, as Matthew said..... maybe someone has a Outlook plugin to record audio file and attach it to email your sending in one step.

then every user also has email, why would anyone want to record a vm to send someone instead of typing?

replacement for Cisco ViewMail? My installation of Unity no longer cooperates with the ViewMail client and after hours of trying to fix it I've simply given up. I can't afford SmartNet on Unity anyway, so I've switched to using MS Exchange as my voicemail solution.

the ViewMail client. ViewMail allowed me to click a mouse button to record an outgoing voice message and then select multiple recipients from my Global Address List. Without ViewMail I have to painstakingly navigate through an IVR / auto-attendant to accomplish the same task.

exists from them or any third-party vendor. This seems unlikely, so I thought I'd ask here. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
