[cisco-voip] CUCM 8.6.2...where?

8.6.1 was pulled because of the h.323 gateway problem. I have a system that I've been trying to get stable and the answer keeps being upgrade. I've managed to upgrade to both the deferred releases of 8.6.1 and 8.6.2. It's quite fun.

How many other CUCM releases have been pulled for deferral like this? Sincerely asking because I'm not aware of others. I was under the impression these things were getting better. At least I've got a pretty slide that shows a logarithmic decline in customer found bugs per platform release 5->6->7->8->8.5->8.6. Perhaps the definition has changed rather than the problem?

This is happening too frequent these days...is Cisco not taking enough time to test new releases!!!

Thanks Nate for the info.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.6(2) Deferral Notice
September 30, 2011
PLEASE NOTE: The Communications Manager (CUCM) 8.6(2) release has been deferred due to the following issue(s):
CSCtq94673

CUCM core dump when SIP phone deregisters during a call

In an attempt to fix a previous issue -- CSCto63870: Ò503 Service unavailable in station close state after SIP line resetÓ - wherein a SIP phone could become stuck in a de-registered state until CUCM was re-booted, our engineering teams inadvertently introduced a corner-case scenario in which a duplicate memory cleanup operation would result in the failure of the call processing module via an invalid memory de-reference (NULL pointer).

While this issue was only seen twice and very late in our testing cycle, we have determined that it is repeatable under very specific, timing-related circumstances and the result is the loss of system call processing until the primary call control module is restarted.

While the frequency of occurrence of this defect is low, its occurrence (and the occurrence of the original SIP de-registration defect) is unacceptable to us, as we know it would be to our customers as well. We have quickly taken action to defer this release from our CCO download site and have halted customer shipments of this release until its replacement (8.6(2a)) can be made available. While we cannot yet specify an exact date for availability, the expected schedule range for the posting of the 8.6(2a) release to CCO is: 10/10/2011 to 10/24/2011.

Cisco apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused our customers who are awaiting shipment or who have already downloaded the 8.6(2) release from our website.

I read from a customer elsewhere that TAC had told them another release was coming Thursday. So soon I am guessing a show stopper bug and an "(a)" release?
