Buying non Cisco authorized refurb phones is considered gray market, because the software on the phone was not licensed to you. DLU’s are licenses for call manager not the phone load.

 

If you buy phones off ebay and don’t re-license from Cisco you are technically violating the licensing agreement and subject to legal ramifications.

Nowadays phones are sold without license. They used DLU and now is per user licensing. I don't see any problem with purchasing used phones.

We just upgraded to CUCM 8.6.   Wondering about purchasing used phones.  Is this legal from Cisco’s Stand point?  I’ve enough DLU / CUWL licenses to cover.  I will not be putting on Smartnet.
