[cisco-voip] Odd 79XX Remote Behavior

Yea, unfortunately it's not a bad connection.

Have determined that in the packet trace that CUCM is sending back: "Error
Code, Code: File not found" when the phone requests the
SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX.cnf.xml file

Using tftpd, I was able to download the file directly from the CUCM server
from the remote computer (that's attached to the phone). So the file
exists, but CUCM is replying to the phone that it does not exist.

Really weird behavior.

Last I ran into this, 3 weeks ago. The wan link had large packet loss.
Phones were doing odd things. Wireshark showed tftp timeouts, retries, etc.
I had ccm 8.5.1su3 with 7965s sccp 9.2.1sr2s. Carrier fixes it.

You read my mind on the trace, getting TFTP errors when it's trying to
access the file from CUCM. Version 7.15.

All,

I have a problem that I think will stump most people.

We have some remote personnel from our main site, building VPN Tunnels using
a 2811 to 881 Cisco router. At their home, they have 794x and 796x phones.
The phones work fine with no issues for periods of time before the phone
seems to almost brick. The screen shows a generic date and time, no
softkeys, no extensions. CUCM shows the phone as "registered," but you
cannot get to the web interface of the phone. Switch on the back of the
phone continues to work serving connection to the PCs that are hooked up to
them.

We then get the phone shipped back to the main site, plug it in, and it
comes up with no issues. We'll ship another phone out, it works great for a
period of time, then stops working again. IP Communicator works fine from
remote on these connections.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim
