[cisco-voip] DTMF Issue with one external number

I think you are running into an issue the CUCM has where it can’t support RFC2833 during a call unless one of the legs are SIP. I suspect that since the call from CUCM to the GW is H323 and it sounds like you are using CTI on the other side for the IVR, that we aren’t able to use 2833 which is most likely what your SIP provider is offering.

2 Possible fixes:

1) MTP like James suggested would probably fix the issue.

2) Change the GW to a SIP GW from H323 which would allow CUCM to use RFC2833 on the call so long as the IVR supports receiving 2833.

I have had this issue dialing into specific conference bridges. The only solution available at the time (it was 7.1 three years ago with CUBE 1.4) was to require an MTP.

Subject: [cisco-voip] DTMF Issue with one external number

Hey guys,

  We have an odd issue going on with DTMF. Below is the path to the PSTN.

CUCM <-> h.323 Gateway <-> SIP Provider.

The problem is that when we dial into this one external number and press 1 to select option 1, it doesn’t seem to accept the digit. If we dial into that same number from anywhere else, it works fine. Having said that, I can dial into other numbers from the system and have no issue at all with dtmf. Any ideas of what this issue is?

Thanks,
Bill
