[cisco-voip] mgcp channel out of service

I tried this on a net5 PRI and the service messages weren't sent. I don't think that PRI type supports them. Unfortunately I had to reset the entire PRI to get it back to normal. It's really too bad, because it's such a useful way to take a PRI out of service without dropping calls.

Are they NI2 PRIs? If so, try enabling the "Enable Sending PRI NI2 Service Message" service parameter. Then CUCM will send messages to the remote switch when you disable and re-enable b-channels.

I tried using
isdn busy b-channel X
as well but it didnt make any difference and I believe that was rightly so, as that one is only used in case of SIP or H323 and MGCP is back-hauling L3 to CUCM so it wont affect the channel on the gateway.

Carlo, when you say disable you mean to bring back into service ???

I found out the hard way too. you can only fix it by restarting the controller card.

The right way is under Service Parameter (advanced view)
Look for Change B-Channel Maintenance Status and do it that way.
Works OK. click on the wording and it will explain how to disable it.

Folks,

Enable Status Poll - on a card & Change B-Channel Maintenance Status X: putting a 1 or 2 will bring the channel out of service (graceful/non graceful) and I believed a 0 will bring them back into service.

But its not the case and eventually have to reboot the controller.
Is that really how its supposed to be OR we have missed something.

we are on cucm 8.5 with mgcp gateways.

thanks
