Hi Simon,

It might not be obvious, but it is very simple ;)

When you upload a file to TFTP (Software Upgrades > TFTP File Management) the upload form includes a Directory field, just enter the path of the directory and it will be created when the file is uploaded.

The following article takes you through the task and explains the format of the directory, updating the list.xml file etc.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-18765

If you need to bulk update background images you should have a look at our software (PhoneView), you can upload images directly to multiple phones in one operation, no need to upload to TFTP, resize images or press buttons on the phone. In-fact you can even push/update background images when the user is on a call so you don't have to wait until out of hours ;)

Using PhoneView just import or paste the background (PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF, TIFF formats supported), select the phones to update and push them out, you can filter which phones to update using multiple criteria (i.e. DevicePool, Location, Department, Subnet etc.) but best of all you can see the screen of all the phones in you entire cluster to verify that the image was updated correctly ;)

You can download the Free version of our software for testing/lab use up to 50 phones, if you want to test with more phones you can request a trial here:

Hi Team,

Is anyone know how create Custom TFTP Directory on CUCM 7.1.3 for phones background with the list of xml files.

We have multiple clients on our hosted environment and we require to add/put image to one of our customer phone’s.

How to tire up that specific custom files to a specific client ?

Kind Regards
