Matthew,

I have deployed a Linksys WIP310 and also tried to integrate some Polycom VC SIP phones. (and failed)

These are the things I Experienced
Configuration is not necessarily straightforward.
You need a separate new user id for each third-party SIP phone you deploy (if you user CUCM with AD integration this could be an issue, unless you are using CUCM 9.X and it´s new local users.
Some of the guides you can find over the Internet may be outdated or simply plain wrong!
Basic phones do not support AP Roaming.
License consumption can be high (specially using ADVANCED sip phones)

As an example, this is a list of the configuration changes I made to set up the WIP310 on a CUCM 7.1.X (They may apply to other phones) with one DN

On CUCM: Phone type must be Third Party SIP device (Basic)
On CUCM: Phone must have a Phone Security Profile with Enable Digest Authentication enabled. Default profile doessn´t have it
On CUCM: Phone must have it´s own end user(Digest User)
On CUCM: End user must be associated to the device
On CUCM: user has to have a Digest Password

On WIP310 Phone:
tab: EXT1
----------------
General - Line Enable: Yes
Proxy and Registration - Proxy: < Callmanager IP Address>
Proxy and Registration - Register: Yes
Subscriber Information - User ID: <Line DN configure don CUCM>
Subscriber Information - Password: End User Digest Password from CUCM
Subscriber Information - Use Auth ID: Yes
Subscriber Information - Auth ID: End User from CUCM

All other parameters are the defaults

Hope this is useful.

Ariel.

Hi All,

Has anyone deployed and non Cisco (7925/6) Wireless phones onto their CUCM? If so can you share your feedback good and bad along with the models you have tried?

I can think of some of the negatives but would like to get a balance picture

Double administration Phone and CUCM
No EM
Firmware upgrades not centrally managed

Regards
Matthew Collins
