[cisco-voip] LDAP search in Jabber for Windows 10.5

Oddly I’ve been down this road enough that I should have all this memorized by now….also means I’m hearing the same customer concerns in regards to Jabber from Lync every time…
So my issues was
1. The proxyAddress was set wrong in AD so Outlook contacts came back first before Directory Searches. In the case of a Outlook match or a cached/recent contacts match then Directory search doesn’t show in client.

Fun stuff. I have a client with Lync and Jabber intradomain and LDAP sync is set to use msRTCSIP which requires the jabber-config.xml to specify that and the prefix of sip:. For installations where Lync is going away or a none issue the LDAP sync should be set to sync via the mail attribute.
Jabber uses the JID for IM so it is a combinations of prefix plus domain in your IM&P cluster settings.
You do not at all have to have msRTCSIP set for users. That is a schema extension only for Lync. Yes a proxy address needs set for SIP bound API calls from Outlook, OWA, and SharePoint.

I’m guessing adding a proxyAddress of sip:username at presencedomain.net is the workaround based on testing. Plus the proxyAddress has to be set for Outlook to work right with presence bubbles.

If the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress is not set in AD, then what does the J4W 10.5 client put in the IM Address field on LDAP searches?I assume it uses email? We notice some users have the wrong IM Chat address via LDAP searches.
Some users had Lync previously and so they do have the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress set. But some did not have Lync before. I recall all users MUST have the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress set for LDAP searches.

If you search for a contact, then View Profile and the Chat IM address is wrong on LDAP searches then it’s because the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress is wrong in AD, correct?
