[cisco-voip] line key vs. not really a line key

I want to avoid the surprise of getting a phone with what looks like a line key but really isn't a line key. Case in point, the 8800s that really only have 5 line keys, but another 5 programmable keys, that, yes, you can use as line keys, but have to set the phone to some mode that has a huge set of caveats.
I can't seem to get the parlance straight there.
Do the 7800s have 4 actual line keys like, without special mode in the phone?
