between hot pluggable and hot swappable. The servers support hot pluggable which
we're told means you can plug in a drive at any time....but not unplug it. We've
got this from HP support, TAC, and many Cisco employees.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Although the HP servers support the hot plug
in a repetative drive mirroring regiment - the IBM servers (7855) do not. I
believe their MTBF count for the insertions of those drive systems is much much
lower than you would expect. </FONT></DIV>

while the machine<BR>is up and replace it with another one and it will start
mirroring from the<BR>live, working drive.<BR><BR>We have always done this
using the "top" drive on HP servers (drive 1 versus<BR>drive 0) so I am not
sure if this is the only drive that can be hot swapped<BR>or if you can do so
with either drive. I think it used to be only this one,<BR>but maybe the
