I don't know if there' s a 'right' set of phone loads. I
generally don't change the firmware unless I have a specific problem
and then I read the release notes to make sure (as much as
possible) there's nothing in the new version that will cause
additional problems.

The firmware versions that are officially supported in CME 3.3 are listed here:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/its/cme33/cme33spc.htm

If you go to the CME individual file download page:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-iostsp

There will sometimes be newer version of phone firmware posted
here. I assume that means it's supported even if that isn't
reflected in the document above.

The 7970 phone firmware is listed there in a tar file. This makes
it easier to copy to the router using the archive /xtract
command.

It looks like you have the newest versions of the 7960/40 and 7970
firmware deployed already. I think you can load newer versions
but they may or may not work correctly.

What specific problems are you having?
Q:

1. What's the right set of phone loads for CME 3.3 for someone who
has 7920's, 7960's and 7970's?

Background:
First I got the 7960 phones and used the load that came with CME 3.3.

7960: 5.0(6.0
) "P00305000600"

Then I got a 7920. I am running what I believe is latest load until recently:
7920: 4.0(01.09) "cmterm_7920.4.0-01-09"

Then I got some 7970's. Nice phone. Look for loads but the oldest one
I can find that has a .zip file (no .exe stuff for us CME folks)
where I can extract the files is:
7970: TERM70.6-0-3SR1S "TERM70.6-0-3SR1S"

Boy you gotta love these Cisco phone load version and file name
conventions, eh?

"show ephone registered" shows:
7960's running SCCP ver 4
7920's running SCCP ver 2
7970's running SCCP ver 5

It all seems to work at a certain level, but I've got issues. I've
been warned that I should got back to 3.2, but for now I am staying
with 3.3.

More Q:

2a. Should I upgrade the 7920 to the new 2.0 "cmterm_7920.4.0-02-00" firmware?
2b. Is the new 7920 2.0
firmware known to work with CME 3.3?
2c. What SCCP version does the 7920 2.0 firmware implement?

3. Should I move the 7960 phones up to a newer firmware version and
get everything running the same version of SCCP?

4. Is it important to have all the phones running the same version of
SCCP? Given that the 7920 was a ver 2 until recently, I would guess
no, but I really have no idea.

5. What phone loads are at least known to work with CME
3.3?

6. What is Cisco's plan for supporting CME phone loads? 7970 firmware
isn't included with CME 3.3 even though the phone is supported and I
need a .zip file so I have to go to version 6.0 even though 5.0 seems
to recommended. It really seems like CME is a very poor stepchild to
CM. It doesn't even rate it's own heading on this Cisco web page:
http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/sw-voice.shtml

but instead is listed as a sub-head under "Voice Applications
Software". Gee if I was a developer on this product I'd really be
cracking some skulls over in marketing. CME is a pretty nice product
for smaller shops and homes IMHO. Even Unity Express gets its own
heading.

7. Actually, if anyone knows the CME product marketing manager I'd
like to speak to that person. They can contact me at
"
