the box for SmartNet purposes thus you can get it for the software but not the
hardware. So if you have to open a TAC case about CCM most of the time they want
the S/N of the box to correlate it with CCM. Personally we use HP direct
and like you said get way better prices, but I have not known TAC to point to
hardware as long as the box meets or exceeds the requirements for the
product. Plus if you keep an eye on the array thru the HP utils and check
the fragmentation of the box once and awhile then your doing the typical
sysadmin stuff that has been going on well before CCM. or any other IP
Communication Product.

Just wondering how many people are sticking with Cisco branded
MCS servers rather than going with the OEM boxes? We've established a great
relationship with HP and they're onsite faster than I can put the phone down
sometimes. What experiences have others seen with OEM boxes? Does the TAC
quickly point at hardware as the problem?

The cost difference between Cisco vs OEM hardware is quite
substantial and were getting around to having to replace a large number of boxes
relatively soon (thanks to IPCC v3.5) and it's getting a bit difficult to
justify the cost difference, when I can't see it myself.
