Hi,

I have actually setup a few of these.

the port role should be setup as a router. make sure that the native vlan you assigned to the switch and port match the native vlan set up in <dot1q trunk encap vlan
native" command on router. one issue i have come up with is that if you plug in different devices to the same port, the port locks and you need to unchech the enable box and submit then reenable, bounce the port. have not figured out how to turn this off yet.

HTH,

The port role-type would be switch if you are connecting to a router so VLANs get passed from my last reading of the catex 500 docs. There is not a way to specify what VLANs belong to a trunk port on the express also from my reading of the document so you get all VLANs. I do not have one to play with at the moment so am strictly going off of the docs.

The server should be a server role port type from my understanding.

This was meant to be a low-price/simplistic switch without many features to play with.

This interface is going to connect to a switchport in the catex500. which role should I assign in the catex500 config? router? switch?

How much as I try different roles I never manage to see the attribution of more than one vlan in the trunk between the switch and the router. I think the switch should recognize the 802.1Q configuration on the router side. Don't know what else to try.

In this same switch I am going to connect a CCM. Once again which role should be assigned to it? ip phone + desktop? server? other?

thanks in advance

regards

--
Pedro Miguel Marques
