[cisco-voip] caller id + DID

i am still working on this caller-id issue.
to rephrase the
situation, i got 3825 router running as gateway with PRI / DID from
verizon. it talks mgcp with ccm. as you see in this email, there is
that calling number sent via q931.

*let me be more realistic, rather
than putting all fake number this time. i got block of 111-222-4800 thru 4900
thru DID. my DN is 111-453-2000
so far the caller id that is received
on called party has been 111-222-4800 no matter who is calling.

today i
ran a few tests.
device-gateway-caller id dn
it was blank. so i put
2224810
then i got 111-222-4810 as my calling number on the called
party.
i put 453xxxx, because my dn is 4532000, then i get 2224800 on caller
id.
i put 222xxxx, i get 2224800 on caller id.

i got a few suspicion
which i like to confirm.

does my DN has to be in the same block as the
DID i am assigned to by provider?
i get the call if outsider calls me on my
DN.

of the time the problem is with the provider. You
can send them anything
that you want in the the
Display IE or FacilityIE but if they don't have
your
DID block "masked" (for lack of a better word)
correctly then no
CID. You might try getting with them
and see what they're receiving for
starters and if
they will pass it along if you provide it
"correctly"
or if they need to lock in your corp name for your
entire
block. At any rate if they tell you that they
can pass along if you're
configured for X then we can
tell you how to configure for X. My
experience is that
your DID block will be masked by your provider with
your corp name and that is the best that they can
provide without
some sort of act of congress. Also, I
know this might sounds obvious
however I've had
customers that were doing this but you can't test this
by calling your mobile phone since most of them will
never show you
the name display.
Ted

--- kevin k < kds850@gmail.com>
