<p class=MsoNormal>I’ve recently installed IPCCX 4.0(5) HA on the two
MCS-7845 servers with 4x72 GB 15k RPM drives. All the other MCS-7845 servers we
have are with 4x72 GB 10k RPM.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>Since we have some spare 72 GB 10k RPM, I think it is OK to
use these disks (10k RPM) to mirror 15k RPM drives before an upgrade?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>I’m usually interested in the data stored on the RAID Array
A (slots 0 and 1) since the RAID Array B (slots 2 and 3) contains the TRACE
files (if configured) and in a disaster recovery situation they might not be
essential. Could I assume it is safe to mirror the RAID Array A only?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>We also use MCS-7845 for our Unity (VM) off-box message
stores. The Array A contains the OS, Ex2K Transactional log files and other
programs, and the Array B contains the Message Store DB only. I do backup the
Message store every day on a shared network drive and this shared drive is
being backed up on the tape. After an upgrade/hotfixes I keep the Array A mirror
disk only. Let’s say, I need to go back 2 weeks and use my mirrored
(Array A) drive. Of course, the old EX2K transactional files don’t match
with the message store DB in Array B. Would I be able to mount the Message
Store DB assuming the familiarity with the eseutil.exe and/or calling the MS exchange
support?<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>I do shut down servers before breaking a mirror and am aware
that mirroring a drive is not supported method for a regular backup but remirroring
is a part of our preventative maintenance once per month. <o:p></o:p></p>
