paragraph below explains why we didn't have to do anything. I didn't know that
JTAPI could do MWI so transparently. The question is why Cisco Unity (full
version) doesn't use this method. I'm assuming it would give us double-rings if

face=Arial><FONT size=2>For Cisco CallManager integrations, the Java Telephony
Application Programming Interface (JTAPI) protocol lights a lamp directly.
There is no need to place a call to a specific number. The JTAPI protocol
itself supports a <B><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">setMessageWaiting</SPAN></B> command, which handles
MWI events. Therefore, MWIs should work regardless of whether MWI extensions
are configured in the Cisco CallManager. Remember that MWIs do not work when
Cisco Unity Express is in SRST mode. A complete MWI refresh only occurs after
Cisco Unity Express reregisters with Cisco CallManager and the IP phones are
