Hi Kathy,

Unfortunately most telcos do not present any information to the
customer premise equipment (CPE) that allows distinguishing local/ld
calls. The only way that you might be able to identify local vs ld
inbound calls is if you have the telco assign them to different
trunks/circuits. This would have LD come in through 1 gateway/circuit
and local come in through a different gateway/circuit. Then you can
use the same CDR search to identify the originating device and
distinguish inbound local from inbound ld.

If the 2 calls route over the same circuits there is 1 other
opportunity. If your inbound LD calls all route via a different number
and the telco presents that specific number as the called party number
when they present the call to the CPE then you can distinguish calls
based on the called party number.

I need to get a monthly report of calls that
come through
our switchboard, whether they be local, long distance or whatever. I
don’t
want calls like I would make from my phone to another extension or an
outside
call or calls coming directly from outside to my extension. Only calls
that go through the switchboard. There are 6 lines on our
switchboard. I went into the CDR analysis and reporting and then went
to
CDR, search by user/extension. I see how I can put in those extensions
for the switchboard and get a monthly report but I am confused about
the call
types. What is the difference in Local and incoming? Is this
the way to do it or is there an easier way? Thanks
