I'm sure there are a number of apps out there that can send requests to phones to hit a web page (to display something on the LCD) and then tell the phone to go offhook and listen to a multicast RTP stream. This is probably the mechanism products like Informacast from Berbee and others do their broadcast paging, or at the least is one way to do something like this.<div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>As for the scalability parts any time a call is on hold in CM you have to have something that is putting the call on hold. I'm not sure if it's possible for a CTI RP to put a device on hold without using a CTI port but if the CTI port is required you then have a limit to the number of phones that can listen to the message based on the number of CTI ports your app can register.</div><div><br><div> <p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px"><font face="Helvetica" size="3" style="font: 12.0px Helvetica">-Ryan</font></p> </div><br><div><div>On Mar 17, 2008, at 12:15 PM, Lelio Fulgenzi wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0; "><div><font face="Arial" size="2">Can you elaborate on this a bit?</font></div><div><font face="Arial" size="2"></font> </div><div><font face="Arial" size="2">We are hoping to use something like IPCelerate/Cistera to send a broadcast page out, but wanted a number for people to call for updates, etc. People will be very worried if there is no number to call.</font></div><div> </div><div>Lelio<br>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>Lelio Fulgenzi, B.A.<br>Senior Analyst (CCS) * University of Guelph * Guelph, Ontario N1G 2W1<br>(519) 824-4120 x56354 (519) 767-1060 FAX (JNHN)<br>^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br>Java-Clavis-Domus Theorem: The ability to keep your hands on the home keys is inversely<br>related to the amount of caffeine ingested in the last 30 minutes.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br></div><blockquote dir="ltr" style="padding-right: 0px; padding-left: 5px; margin-left: 5px; border-left-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-left-width: 2px; border-left-style: solid; margin-right: 0px; "><div style="font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; ">----- Original Message -----</div><div style="background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; -webkit-background-clip: initial; -webkit-background-origin: initial; background-color: rgb(228, 228, 228); font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; background-position: initial initial; "><b>From:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a title="rratliff@cisco.com" href="mailto:rratliff@cisco.com">Ryan Ratliff</a></div><div style="font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; "><b>To:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a title="lelio@uoguelph.ca" href="mailto:lelio@uoguelph.ca">Lelio Fulgenzi</a></div><div style="font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; "><b>Cc:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a title="cisco-voip@puck.nether.net" href="mailto:cisco-voip@puck.nether.net">Cisco Voyp List</a></div><div style="font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; "><b>Sent:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Monday, March 17, 2008 12:05 PM</div><div style="font: normal normal normal 10pt/normal arial; "><b>Subject:</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Re: [cisco-voip] using Annunciator and/or MOH for high volume announcements</div><div><br></div>You'll run into the same scalability issue with both Annunciator or CTI ports as you would Unity ports I'm afraid.
