These model phones *must* have a LSC installed so they can read the CTL file presented by the ASA. To install that LSC you must first bring up the phones and register them directly to the CCM and choose the install certificate option.

If you do not have any 7940s or 60s then I don't believe you really need CTL Client to get this working. All you really need at that point are the correct files to upload to the ASA.

Here is a great guide written by a friend of mine on the security team:
In that guide you can see which files you need to grab from the CallManager.
I am working on trying to get the phone proxy feature of the ASA 8.0(4) working.

In doing so it lead me to needing some certificates off of my
CallManager 4.1(3).

Seems some of the certs I need are missing and that seems to be
related to the CAPF.

I do not have CAPF or CTL Provider activated on my publisher. So I
started looking into doing this and it lead me to needing to install
the "CTL Client". Well in reading about that it states I need a USB
security eToken?

Anyone with any experience in this, does all this sound right or I am
turning this into way more then it needs to be?

Do I have to get some USB security eToken from Cisco to do all this?

I just wanted to get the phone proxy feature working so that I could
have a VP's phone work from home. :-)

I don't need to encrypt calls, I just need to authenticate phones.

Thanks!
