Downgrade the french locale on the CallManager server to the 6.1.1.1000-1 version.

cm-locale-fr_FR-6.1.1.1000-1.cop.sgn

The 6.1.1.2100-1 version is known to have a problem with CIPC on CCM 6.1.2.

This will be fixed in a future version of CIPC to be released early next year.

You can install the 6.1.1.1000-1 on top of your existing 6.1.2100-1 locale on all servers in your cluster and then reboot. This should effectively downgrade your locale version and your CIPC will no longer have a problem.
Forgot to mention, deployed CIPCs are version 2.0.1, but I've tested with 2.1.4 (on a non-locked workstation, as Administartor, so there were no access rights problems) and the problem is still there, as described below.

We have A CallManager 6.1.2, with installed locales for french and
romanian, locale file versions 6.1.2000-1

Users complain, that they can't change the locale for IP Communicator
any more (since the upgrade to 6.1.2; previous version was 5.1.2, with
5.1.1.1-1 locale files)

Those, that had the CIPC locale changed previously to French for
example, are stuck with that, being unable to change it back to English
either.

files are successfully downloaded from the TFTP server, but the
softphone still complains "Error Updating Locale" in the status screen.

Using a different installation (the corporate CIPC are mass deployed,
no access to C: drive etc.) I sort-of managed to switch between French
and English partially: right-click menus, splash screen and tooltips
appear in french, but the phone screen (softkeys, phone menus, etc.) is
still in english.

CSCsu64159 seems somewhat related, though I'll have to wait some time
to be allowed to downgrade the locale versions (since it would require
a cluster reset etc.)

Anybody experienced this or something similar? Are there any workarounds?

thanks,
Zoltan
