Connection sync != CallManager dirsync.

CallManager syncs over all users on a scheduled basis and has their usernames
available as CCM end users for use.

Unity Connection gets pointed to CallManager *only* and gives you the option to
enter a callmanager username/fname/lname/extension, query it across via AXL,
and then single-click (based on user template) create a voicemail box tied to
that user. It is not true synchronization of your userbase from UCM to
CUC, just a method of creating a voicemail box tied to a UCM user.

what about just pointing Unity to your AD server and DIRSYNC
will sync Unity cxn with AD on predefined time?
Why to import?

In SRND it says 'Cxn can be pointed to CUCM' for importing users but user must
be configured with their extension in CUCM in order to VM box work.

So i belive it dirsync also (or a script) creates users mailbox when it import
them from AD/LDAP/CUCM server.

i need to lab this up to get over this.

Subject: [cisco-voip] importing users from cucm6x to unity connection 7x using
dirsync

Is this possible not to create any user on Unity cx 7x and it will suck users
from CCM6x?

I read SRND where it has mention that user can be imported from CCM database
via DIR_SYNC.

Just wondering if anyone is using in production and any draw back of not
creating users on unity cxn.
