I understand that's what's happening, but the manual makes no mention of the
mask. The phone manual says that field uses the DN, the online admin docs
describe that as the first field in the line config page, not the external
mask.

Either way, how can I get the real phone number on the top? Why does the manual
say one thing but the system implement it completely differently?
Subject: [cisco-voip] CUCM 6.1.2-1000 and the phone number at the top of the
phone

The 7945 manual says that the number on the top right of my phone is called
"Primary phone line", and that it "Displays the phone number
(directory number) for your primary phone line." I'm talking about
the number above the line buttons and to the right of the date/time.

I have a site where almost everyone is hiding behind 1 number using the
external number mask (with the route pattern/group/list having the "use
external number mask" checked). All their phones display the mask and not
the primary phone line number. I tested my phone and changing the mask (which
was the same as my real number) changes that field.

The behaviour I'm seeing seems to contradict the manual. Is there another
setting somewhere that might be changing it? Or is my interpretation wrong?

Thanks

Sean
