ATA has two modes, "Fax mode" and "Fax Passthrough" mode. Functionally they are both passthrough, but the "Fax Passthrough" mode will actually act like an IOS gateway configured for passthrough (negotiates codec/upspeeding) whereas the "Fax mode" just treats the call as a normal voice call with no fax tone detection or other bells and whistles.

You can switch modes by using a web browser to the ATA and setting the audio mode and connect mode parameters:
Fax Mode: audio mode = 0x00120012, connect mode doesn't matter
Fax passthrough: audio mode 0x00150015 , connect mode = 0x90000400

If your voice gateway on the far end is setup for NSE passthrough, I would recommend setting up the ATA for "Fax passthrough" if it is not already, and see if it helps out.

On Fri, Sep 4, 2009 at 11:18 AM, Countryman, Edward <Edward.Countryman@provena.org> wrote:
DSPware is current (28x). The ATA parameters of course are cryptic.
