I agree with the recommendation of a Symbol reader if going for wired. <div><br></div><div>If you google you can even find some bluetooth models that will work on your laptop (usually act as a keyboard). </div><div><br></div>
<div>Last time I did a large scan we used an HP iPaq with a barcode reader attached. It was able to scan directly to Excel which was nice. With a little effort you could precreate your Excel templates to scan and pick DIDs for assignment right there. Perhaps even print a temporary label to put on the box for someone to use when distributing the devices. If I recall Motorola has some quite fancy ones that are a little more durable than the iPaq for the same $$$ through ebay.<div>
