CUPC used to be particularly bad at this. Other endpoints that i've
seen usually just drop the packets. In the end it is still the same
cause - either network or client is getting backed up.<br>

my non-work life I pretend to do some audio stuff, and I have
seen symptoms like that when the soundcard can’t decide what sample
rate
it’s supposed to run at. For example, if the driver wants to force to
the
hardware to a particular sample rate, but a device connected to the
optical
input is providing clocking at a different rate. Or if multiple
applications
are trying to control the sample rate instead of letting the driver
convert
